Course Preview:

This virtual 3.5 hour course will be delivered by `Change Grow Live/Eclypse` who offer support to young people, adults and families affected by drugs or alcohol misuse in Manchester.  

You should attend this course if you work regularly with children, young people and families in Manchester.  This course will explore the impact of parental substance misuse on children and the importance of working together with all relevant agencies to identify, assess concerns and plan the appropriate intervention. 

To access this course applicants must have completed approved mandatory safeguarding children training within the past 3 years.

Course Aims:

To raise awareness regarding the impact of parental substance misuse on the continued well-being of children and young people.

Course Outcomes:

  • Discuss and explore the impact of parental substance misuse on children, young people and on parenting capacity.
  • Identify professional roles and responsibilities when working with substance misuse
  • Confidently raise with parents the issue of substance misuse and its impact on children.
  • Promote multi agency-agency working, a[appropriate information sharing and the use of assessment tools.
  • To be familiar with the referral process and drugs and substance misuse services available in Manchester,
  • Complete an MSP Training Course Action Plan

There are two bus routes very close:
  • Rochdale Road: 17 (Manchester-Rochdale, 18 (MRI-Langley), 53 (Cheetham Hill-Pendleton), 163 (Manchester-Bury)
  • Moston Lane: 52 (Failsworth-Eccles/Trafford Centre), 716 (Plant Hill-Netwon Heath)

There is parking on the roads nearby and short stay parking (maximum 4 hours) at Harpurhey Shopping Centre. People can be dropped off near the building.
